ED Robotics is a robotics club based in Erik Dahlbergsgymnasiet, Jönköping. Our goal is to provide ED's students with not only the opportunity to participate in exciting and educational robotics projects, but also to build a warm and accomplished community of future engineers. ED Robotics was founded in 2022 and we are in the process of tackling several independent robotics projects, most notably Robocup and FRC2024. Help us build robots that walk, roll, swim, fly, play soccer, and even navigate Mars!
Members get a chance to make a significant impact on a complex, multidisciplinary, and multi-member engineering project on a level most high school students do not normally encounter. As a member, you would gain experience with milling, 3D printing, microcontrollers, electronics, coding languages, hardware-software integration, algorithms, and much more. No previous robotics experience is necessary, but a willingness to learn and to put in significant time commitment is required. Want to build some cool robots and have a blast while you're at it? FIRST Robotics Competition combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. FIRST Robotics Competition is called the ultimate Sport for the Mind. High-school student participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have.” Under strict rules, limited resources, and a limited amount of time, teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team “brand”, hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. It’s as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team.
Robocup is a project-orientated educational robotics competition for students up to the age of 19 with a focus on providing a hands-on, scaffoled environment where learners can grow by expanding their knowledge of, sparking their curiosity about and increasing their comfort with technology. There are three challenges, soccer, rescue and onstage - each emphasizes cooperative problem-solving and designed to reach creative young minds with a range of interests and skills.
Students meet weekly after lessons on Wednesdays and Thursdays in the A-house workshop at Erik Dahlbergsgymnasiet.
